VLN–007 / REV 01

A product diagnosis, then the work.

First we find what is not working and why. Then we fix it together.

Product management in two stages: a diagnosis of the product in a week to a month, then a monthly partnership inside the team, only if there is nobody to execute.

Let's talk

Two entry points

VLN–007 / REV 02
ENTRY 01

The company grew. The product got tangled.

There is a product and there are clients, but no single picture of what happens in it and what comes first.

Start with the review
ENTRY 02

A live product. Nobody holding it.

Developers get tasks in Slack, not a spec. Nobody tests before it goes live.

Start with the partnership

Most clients start with the review, even when a partnership is clearly needed. The review is also the introduction: after it I know what to do on day one, and you know how I work.

The path

VLN–007 / REV 03
01

A call

30 minutes

What happened that made you look. Which stage fits, if any. No prices on the call.

02

Product review

A week to a month

Screen and flow mapping, UX review, copy, a pricing model and benchmarking. The deliverable: one working document with explicit priorities, and a presentation meeting.

03

The fork

A decision

Someone on the team can execute? We part here, and the document stays with you. Nobody can? We move to the next stage.

04

Ongoing partnership · fractional

Monthly retainer

Spec, UX, QA and requirements translation with the client, one or two days a week inside the team. Starting from priorities that already exist, not a blank page.

Ongage

Product partnership · Email marketing platform · 18 months

CASE 01 · PARTNER
What brought it

A platform built for enterprise, with no front door for a self-serve user. And a funnel reported in three systems that disagreed.

What was decided

Product-led onboarding end to end: user interviews, a competitor teardown, then specifications for the welcome flow, the wizard, domain connection and pricing, on one analytics spec.

Working with Tanya over the past year has been a huge asset to Ongage. She plays a key role in shaping complex product initiatives, from pricing and packaging to onboarding, permissions, and UX flows, always bringing clarity to highly nuanced problems. Tanya has a rare ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, translating business and customer needs into clear, actionable product decisions that engineering and design can move on confidently. Her deep understanding of SaaS products, strong ownership mindset, and thoughtful collaboration consistently elevate both the product and the team.

CASE 02 · REVIEW
What brought it

A safety app where nobody could tell if they were protected right now.

What was decided

A home screen as a command centre answering one question, a paywall with six states instead of two, and analytics that measure both.

Questions and ending

VLN–007 / REV 08
Can we start with the partnership, without a review?+

Yes, when it is clear what needs doing and there is simply nobody to do it. When it is not clear, the first two weeks of a partnership go into mapping anyway, and it is better done as a closed project with a deliverable.

And if we do not continue after the review?+

That is a legitimate outcome, and usually what happens when the team can execute. The document and the priorities stay with you and work without me.

Why not hire a PM?+

Hiring takes months and starts from zero. A review gives the picture within weeks, and the partnership fills the role meanwhile. When you do hire, the PM ramps up far faster.

How many clients at once?+

One active partnership client at a time. Reviews can run in parallel, within reason.
