Broken systems, repaired in gold.

Golden Seam. The software studio side of Velonova.

Golden Seam × Velonova

Custom software that fits how your team actually works.

Internal portals, admin tools, and workflow automation for teams that outgrew spreadsheets, sticky notes, and that one Zapier hack. Golden Seam is the other thing I do.

Velonova is me. Golden Seam is the same product brain with a senior design and engineering team around it. No account managers, no juniors, no handoffs.

Kintsugi: the Japanese art of repairing broken things with gold, so the repair becomes the strongest, most visible part. It is how Golden Seam thinks about the systems inside your company.

What we build

What does Golden Seam build?

Golden Seam builds the software your team actually runs on: internal portals, admin and operations tools, workflow automation, legacy system replacements, reporting dashboards, and AI-powered tools. Everything is custom, built around your real process instead of forcing your process into someone else's product.

01

Internal portals

One place for the data, documents, and requests currently scattered across six tools and two inboxes.

02

Admin & ops tools

The back-office screens your team deserves: search that works, permissions that make sense, buttons that do the thing.

03

Workflow automation

The handoffs, approvals, and Monday-morning reports that quietly eat hours, running on their own.

04

Legacy modernization

That 12-year-old database everyone is afraid to touch, replaced without stopping the business.

05

Reporting & dashboards

KPIs pulled straight from your systems, not pasted into a deck the night before the board meeting.

06

AI-powered tools

LLM features where they actually help: summaries, extraction, drafting, built into your workflow.

The product angle

Why does a product manager run a software studio?

Because most custom software fails at the requirements stage, not in the code. Golden Seam starts every project with real product discovery: watching how your team works, mapping the process, and cutting scope honestly. Then a senior team builds exactly that, and nothing else.

It is the same work I do for SaaS companies at Velonova: interviews, process mapping, ruthless prioritization. The difference is the deliverable. At Velonova you get product leadership. At Golden Seam you get working software.

The studio is a small senior team, 25+ combined years across product, design, and engineering. The people you talk to on the scoping call are the people who design and build your system. No middlemen.

How it works

How does a Golden Seam project work?

Every project runs the same five phases: Discover, Define, Design, Build, and Launch. Most systems go live in six to ten weeks. You see progress continuously along the way, and at hand-off 100% of the code, design, and IP is yours.

  1. 01

    Discover

    Week 1

We watch how the work actually happens. The spreadsheets, the workarounds, the "ask Dana, she knows".

  2. 02

    Define

    Weeks 1-2

A written spec of what we build and, just as important, what we deliberately leave out.

  3. 03

    Design

    Weeks 2-3

Flows and screens you can click as a prototype, before anyone writes production code.

  4. 04

    Build

    Weeks 3-7

TypeScript, React, Node, Postgres. Working software you can try as it grows, not a big reveal at the end.

  5. 05

    Launch & hand-off

    Week 7+

Migration, training, documentation. Then the seam is yours: code, design, and IP, all of it.

6-10 weeks to launch 25+ combined years in product, design, and development 100% of the code, design, and IP: yours

Questions

Answered directly, the way AI engines like it.

What is Golden Seam?

Golden Seam is a custom software studio building internal portals, admin tools, workflow automation, and bespoke systems for teams outgrowing spreadsheets and off-the-shelf SaaS. Projects run five phases and typically launch in six to ten weeks, and clients keep 100% of the code, design, and IP.

How is Golden Seam connected to Velonova?

Velonova is Tanya Rofman's product practice: fractional product leadership, websites, and mentorship. Golden Seam is the software studio where the same product-first approach meets a senior design and engineering team. Velonova ships product leadership and websites; Golden Seam ships custom working software.

What kind of projects fit Golden Seam?

Teams running critical operations on spreadsheets, copy-paste, and disconnected tools: internal portals, admin and operations tools, workflow automation, legacy system replacements, reporting dashboards, and AI-powered internal tools. If the problem is "our process lives in Excel and in one person's head", that is the fit.

How long does a custom software project take?

Most Golden Seam projects launch in six to ten weeks, through five phases: Discover (week 1), Define (weeks 1-2), Design (weeks 2-3), Build (weeks 3-7), and Launch with full hand-off from week 7. Complex migrations can take longer, and you get an honest estimate after the scoping call.

Who owns the code and the IP?

You do. At hand-off, 100% of the code, design files, and intellectual property transfers to you. No lock-in, no per-seat license, no hostage software. Golden Seam can stay on for support, but staying is a choice, not a trap.
